A person identified as a primary school teacher criticized children's clothing choices, specifically "shorts," on their "Instagram" social media account. Posing the question to students, "Does a Muslim wear shorts? Do we show these parts of ourselves to people?" the teacher stated, "Whatever a person is like when they are small, they will be something close to that when they grow up. Decency always begins in childhood. You are smart children. A Muslim's child is always smart and decent. Are you not a Muslim's child?"
Serkan Bebek, a member of the Central Executive Board of the All Teachers' Union (Tüm Öğretmenler Birliği Sendikası), reacted to the footage, stating, "Schools are not places where teachers should impose their own sects and religious beliefs on students and create conflict between children and their families."

The teacher in question also recently linked the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul to the "immorality" experienced in the city on their social media account. That post included the statement, "The biggest cause of earthquakes is the prostitution and immorality in the city..."
