Reason for hitting dog with a stick was to 'rescue' it
In the Muratlı district of Tekirdağ, a suspect who was recorded on a mobile phone camera hitting his dog with a stick has been taken to the police station. Denying the accusations, the suspect defended himself by claiming he hit the dog to rescue it from where it was stuck.

The incident took place in the Kazımdirik-Turan neighborhood. According to allegations, F.Ç. (56), who was responsible for the care of the dog, hit it repeatedly with a stick he was holding, continuing the violence for some time despite the dog's cries of pain.
A concerned citizen who saw the dog being beaten recorded the moments on a mobile phone camera and sent it to the municipality's WhatsApp tip line. The injured dog was quickly taken under treatment by the Muratlı Municipality Veterinary Services teams.
Stating that the dog's health is good, Muratlı Municipality Veterinarian Melis Özgüner indicated that the dog will remain under observation for a while longer.
ADMINISTRATIVE FINE IMPOSED
On the other hand, following the publication of the footage on social media, police teams took action and apprehended the suspect, F.Ç., at his residence. The suspect was taken to the Cumhuriyet Police Station, where proceedings were initiated against him under "Article 14 of the Animal Protection Law." Additionally, a fine of 4 thousand 554 Turkish Lira was imposed on the individual.
Denying the accusations, F.Ç. defended himself in his statement by saying that he hit the dog to rescue it from where it was stuck.
Meanwhile, in a statement made by the Tekirdağ Governor's Office, it was noted: “Upon the report reaching our Muratlı District Police Department on 11.12.2023 regarding violence against a dog that was tied up in the Muratlı district center, our teams immediately arrived at the scene.
Necessary actions were taken against the individual who committed the violence in accordance with the relevant legislation, and the dog was handed over to municipal teams. Respectfully announced to the public.”
