The reckless driver has been caught
In Istanbul, a pickup truck that changed lanes uncontrollably on the highway caused an accident by hitting a motorcycle traveling to its right. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and skidded across the asphalt. The driver involved in the incident, which was captured on camera, was apprehended by police teams. It was learned that the motorcycle rider, who was taken to the hospital, survived the accident with only minor scrapes.

The incident occurred on December 18 on the Avrupa Otoyolu (European Highway) in the Avcılar district. While motorcycle rider Serkan Yılmaz was traveling on the highway, he passed the pickup truck in front of him and moved into the middle lane. A short time later, the pickup truck in the left lane moved uncontrollably from the far-left lane to the far-right lane, squeezing the motorcycle. Serkan Yılmaz tried to steer to the right to avoid the lane-changing pickup truck, but he could not escape being hit by the vehicle that was crowding him. The motorcycle rider was thrown to the ground instantly upon impact. Other drivers who noticed the incident hit their brakes and stopped, preventing a potential disaster. While the situation was reported to medical teams and the police, the pickup truck driver continued on his way.
SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES
Medical teams arriving at the scene took the injured rider to the hospital after providing initial treatment. While it was learned that Serkan Yılmaz luckily survived the accident with minor scrapes, the police launched an investigation to apprehend the pickup truck driver who caused the accident.
RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
Camera footage from a driver who recorded the moment of the incident was examined. The license plate was identified from the footage. It was determined that the vehicle was being driven by Tuncay Ö. Tuncay Ö. was apprehended by police teams. The driver, against whom proceedings were initiated for the crime of "negligent injury," was referred to judicial authorities. A judicial control order was issued for the suspect.

While the driver was released, footage of the moment of the accident emerged. In the footage, it is seen that the rider lost control after Tuncay Ö.'s pickup truck squeezed him while moving to the right, causing him to be thrown and fall onto the asphalt surface.
