Scandalous statements by Bağcılar attacker emerge: 'I get annoyed by police, I did it on purpose'

An attack was carried out yesterday afternoon on a police vehicle parked in a square in Istanbul's Bağcılar district. The attacker, who had been observing the police vehicle for a while, opened the vehicle's door after some time and stabbed the officers. Two police officers were injured in the incident, and the attacker was apprehended shortly thereafter. Details from the attacker's statement have now emerged.

In Istanbul's Bağcılar, an individual attacked two police officers in a patrol vehicle with a knife. The attack, which took place yesterday, was captured on camera second by second. The camera footage shows the attacker watching the police vehicle for a while before approaching it, opening the door, and attacking the officers. Two police officers, one of whom was a woman, were injured in the attack. Following the intervention of medical teams dispatched to the scene upon notification, the 2 police officers were taken to the hospital for treatment. It was learned that the injured police officers are not in life-threatening condition.

The fleeing suspect was apprehended shortly after by a police operation. According to the report by Çağdaş Evren Şenlik from Ekol TV, the statement the attacker gave at the police station has emerged.

In the statement given by the owner of the workplace where the attacker, who owned the knife used in the attack, had been, he said, "He entered the workplace and wanted to buy a knife. He had no money. He wanted to take it by force. I told him I would call the police. He said, 'No need to call, I'll tell the police myself.'"
