Security sources state 'points where PKK will lay down arms have been determined': 'Ankara is hopeful about this'

The Syrian Presidency has announced that an agreement has been reached with the terrorist organization YPG/SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces). The agreement signed in Damascus between Syria's interim President Ahmed Shara and Mazloum Abdi consists of 8 articles.

According to the agreement, border crossings, as well as oil and gas fields, will pass under the administration of the Syrian state. Sinan Burhan, a guest on the program 'Eşit Ağırlık' (Equal Weight) with Erdoğan Aktaş broadcast on tv100, shared information he obtained from security sources.

In his statement, Burhan said, "Security sources say, 'We are hopeful about this process, which is why even the disarmament points have been identified.' In other words, after the PKK terrorist organization convenes its congress and decides to lay down arms together with the YPG, the weapons will be taken to certain points and surrendered."

"SURRENDER POINTS HAVE BEEN DETERMINED"

Burhan included the following remarks in his statement: "The most important of these articles is that border security, as well as oil and water, will be under the central Syrian authority; this is a very important development. Ankara is hopeful about this. Ankara's thesis is as follows: As we just said, there is no such thing as a ceasefire; there is a situation of laying down arms and surrendering. The main important issue is that security sources say, 'We are hopeful about this process, which is why even the disarmament points have been identified.' "THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO AMNESTY FOR PKK LEADERS"

The third important issue is: what will happen to the militant elements of the terrorist organization after they lay down their arms? First, those who are citizens of other countries will go there according to the laws of those countries. Those who were born and raised in Turkey and have not committed crimes will be released. This is one of the articles being discussed. Second, there is the issue of confession and effective remorse. If there is a need for additional legal regulation for this, reference was made to the parliament. Therefore, if there is a need for regulation in the existing fight against terrorism, appropriate arrangements will be made for this as well. There is absolutely no amnesty for high-level leaders of the terrorist organization or those who have been involved in crimes. It appears that all kinds of work—legal, administrative, and judicial—and the infrastructure for these issues have been completed in Ankara, and the agreement signed this evening seems to be a continuation of this," he said.
