Statement on Can Atalay from TKH Chair Tekerek

Following the stripping of Gezi Park trial prisoner and Hatay MP Can Atalay's parliamentary status, the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) and the Republican People's Party (CHP) issued a call for protests. Aysel Tekerek, Chair of the Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH), one of the parties that responded to the call, made a press statement.

The Labor Movement Party (EHP), Labor Party (EMEP), Left Party (SOL Parti), Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH), Socialist Workers' Party (SEP), Halkevleri, SYKP, Kaldıraç, and Social Freedom Party (TÖP) participated in the protest.

Party members and citizens who gathered at the historic Beşiktaş Pier protested the decision regarding Can Atalay with slogans.

Aysel Tekerek, Chair of the Communist Movement of Turkey, who participated in the protest, made a press statement there and expressed her reaction with the following words:

"Do not think that this matter is over.

Every time you speak of 'national will,' we will throw this decision in your face.

The reason for this decision is the 'fear of Gezi'."
