Heartbreaking details and footage continue to emerge regarding the fire that broke out at the 12-story Grand Kartal Hotel at the Kartalkaya Ski Center.
The footage of the horrific disaster, showing some people trying to escape by jumping from heights and others by tying bedsheets together, is truly chilling.
TO SAVE HER BABY...
In the footage recorded by a mobile phone camera, a desperate person is seen taking their baby in their arms and attempting to drop them down to save them from the smoke-filled room.
While bystanders can be heard shouting "She's going to drop the child" and yelling at her not to do so, the chilling footage continues with the moment a person located in the attic jumps from a window.
It was learned that the person who jumped from the window lost their life.
JUMPED FROM THE TOP FLOOR, COULD NOT BE SAVED
Hotel employee Mehmet Can Gezici described the moments of terror. Stating that they were caught in the fire while asleep, Gezici said, "We were sleeping when the fire broke out. We woke up around 03:00. When we went outside, there was a terrible scene. When we arrived here, it looked like the apocalypse. The hotel had started burning from the middle, and the flames were moving upwards. We tried to help. We took our pillows and quilts for those jumping from the windows.
We had to witness a female nurse jumping from the top floor. She lost her life. It was a very bad time. People had to drop their children, perhaps so they could survive. Not many survived. It was very distressing.
When I look at the hotel, those moments come to my mind. We couldn't even understand what we were feeling. We cannot even express our thoughts right now," he said.
