Following the attacks launched by jihadist groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) against the Assad regime on November 27, the regime in Syria collapsed today (December 8).
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has left Damascus, which has been captured by the opposition. Assad's whereabouts are unknown.
As reported by Sözcü, as the opposition entered Damascus, the flag known as the opposition flag—consisting of green, white, and black colors with three red stars in the center—began to be displayed and raised on flagpoles throughout the city.
The current flag of the Syrian State was first adopted in 1958 to represent Syria as part of the United Arab Republic.
It is not possible for the flag, which consists of a horizontal tricolor of green, white, and black with three red stars in the center, to be legalized and used in Syria before a new government is formed.
