Tragic accident in Istanbul! Elderly woman struck by IETT bus loses her life
In Zeytinburnu, an IETT bus struck and killed 80-year-old Sevinç Tuna, who was attempting to cross the road at a red light, without noticing her. While the elderly woman lost her life at the scene, the bus driver, Murat Ş., was taken into custody.

In the accident that occurred on Seyit Nizam Street in Istanbul's Zeytinburnu district during the morning hours, the IETT Private Public Bus with license plate 34 HO 2338, driven by Murat Ş., dropped off passengers while waiting at a red light. As the light turned green, Murat Ş. moved forward and struck Sevinç Tuna (80), who was crossing the street at a red light, without noticing her.
ELDERLY WOMAN LOSES HER LIFE
Upon being alerted by citizens in the vicinity, the bus driver, Murat Ş., realized he had struck the woman and immediately notified the police, medical, and fire department teams. Fire crews arriving at the scene extracted the unfortunate woman from where she was trapped. Medical teams arriving at the scene determined during their initial intervention that Tuna had lost her life.
DRIVER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
While it was learned that the driver was taken into custody, the body of the unfortunate woman was transported to the Forensic Medicine Institute in Yenibosna for an autopsy following the investigation conducted by police teams at the scene.
