Two major landslides occur in Zonguldak
Following heavy rainfall in Zonguldak, a house believed to contain 2 people was buried under soil in a landslide. Construction machinery involved in the rescue efforts for the 2 people trapped in the debris was then buried by a second landslide. 18 people from the rescue team working to save a mother and her son were injured, 2 of them critically.

SECOND MAJOR LANDSLIDE IN ZONGULDAK
Following heavy rainfall in Zonguldak, a house believed to contain 2 people was buried under soil in a landslide. Upon notification, police, fire department, AFAD, and 112 Emergency Service teams were dispatched to the scene.

HOUSE CONTAINING MOTHER AND SON BURIED UNDER SOIL
18 people from the teams working in the area where a single-story detached house collapsed due to the landslide in Zonguldak were injured in the second landslide.
A landslide occurred on Tulumba Street in the Asma neighborhood as a result of the heavy rainfall affecting the city. The single-story detached house on the street collapsed under the impact of the soil and rock fragments that fell onto it.
Upon notification, AFAD, fire department, police, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the region.
The teams initiated efforts to rescue the mother and son believed to be in the house.
18 PEOPLE INJURED, 2 CRITICALLY
In the area where a second landslide occurred, 18 people from the working teams were injured, 2 of them critically. The injured were taken to the hospital.
The teams' efforts to rescue the mother and son are ongoing. Nearby houses are being evacuated as a security precaution. Meanwhile, Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu and other officials have also arrived in the area.
STATEMENT FROM AFAD
A statement was issued by AFAD regarding the consecutive landslides in Zonguldak. The statement included the following:
“On December 9 at 20:00, a two-story house collapsed due to a landslide in Zonguldak. During the rescue efforts for the 2 people trapped under the debris, 21 personnel were buried under the debris due to a second landslide. The injured personnel have been transferred to the hospital.”
