Visit from İmamoğlu to Tevfik Göksu!

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu paid a congratulatory visit to Esenler Mayor Tevfik Göksu, who was elected to the same position for the fourth time. 

İmamoğlu congratulated Göksu with the words,“I wish you success. I hope you have valuable services. I tell every mayor—let me express it on behalf of Esenler—may these be the most successful 5 years for Esenler. If every mayor achieves the most successful 5 years in their own district, we will have achieved the most successful 5 years for Istanbul in the coming five years.”

“EVERY DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE HAS ITS STRENGTHS”

Stating that Göksu is one of the experienced mayors of Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “We have new mayors in Istanbul, and we have experienced mayors. Every different perspective has its strengths and its special aspects. Today, while talking about the next 5 years of Esenler, our intention is actually to be able to write and organize the strategic plan for the next 5 years for Istanbul together with the districts as the Metropolitan Municipality. We attach great importance to these visits we make in this context, together with our entire team. We hope to finish visiting all 39 districts before the Eid al-Adha. As of today, we will have exceeded 30. We hope to finish the rest next week and at the beginning of the following week, completing our 39 districts,” he said. 

“OUR DOORS ARE OPEN TO EACH OTHER”

Stating that they hold meetings in every district accompanied by relevant bureaucrats, İmamoğlu said, “It is going very productively and in a very sharing manner. I am very happy about this. Our Istanbul is very, very important. It is the heart of life for all of Turkey. Every good step we take in terms of urban planning, communication, negotiation, and consultation will be an example for Turkey. In this context, important responsibilities fall upon our experienced mayors like Tevfik Göksu regarding communication, relations, and a culture of working together in the next 5 years. Of course, our doors are open to each other. I hope none of us will let our nation down. We will not let our city and our fellow citizens down,” he expressed. 

GÖKSU: “ISTANBUL’S BURDEN IS HEAVY, WE WILL CARRY IT TOGETHER”

Göksu also expressed his satisfaction with the visit of İmamoğlu and his delegation, saying, “Mr. Mayor, welcome. Thank you very much for your visit. May your new term be auspicious. I wish you success. Of course, Istanbul’s burden is heavy. We will carry this burden together, specifically for Istanbul and Esenler. We will put forward our common solutions together. We will fulfill our duty to the people who entrusted us in Istanbul.”

Following the speeches, İmamoğlu and Göksu held a roundtable meeting with the mutual participation of their institutional staff regarding the problems of Esenler and potential solutions.
