Visited on the anniversary of Lausanne: Notable lines from Özgür Özel in the Anıtkabir Memorial Book

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel visited Anıtkabir on the 102nd anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which serves as the title deed of the Republic of Türkiye.

Walking along the Road of Lions with his accompanying delegation, Özel laid a wreath at the mausoleum of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and observed a moment of silence.

Following the photo session, Özel moved to the National Pact Tower and signed the Anıtkabir Memorial Book.

"WHAT WAS INTENDED TO BE IMPOSED BY SEVRES..."

Özgür Özel wrote the following in the book:

"Great Atatürk, my esteemed Chairman. We commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which is the diplomatic registration of our national independence, with respect and gratitude, and with our unwavering commitment to the founding values of our Republic, which you entrusted to us. Instead of a fragmented Türkiye that was intended to be imposed by the Treaty of Sèvres, our nation's sovereignty was declared to the whole world through the diplomatic victory of the delegation led by İsmet İnönü, and our independence was registered before international law. We will commemorate the anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which is a symbol of resistance and rebirth in our national memory and the title deed of our country, which laid the foundations of our Republic based on the national will, with the same consciousness and determination every year. We will continue to resolutely protect the fundamental principles of our Republic. We are determined to overcome every obstacle we face with even greater resistance.

We commemorate with mercy all the members of the delegation, especially İsmet İnönü, who were the architects of this great achievement, your comrades-in-arms, and our martyrs, and we bow with respect before your cherished memories. Long live the fully independent Republic of Türkiye. With infinite gratitude and appreciation, may your soul rest in peace."

Later, Özel visited the tomb of İsmet İnönü at Anıtkabir with his delegation, laid a wreath, observed a moment of silence, and chatted with citizens who had come to visit Anıtkabir, posing for photos with them.

Sharing the visit on his X account, Özgür Özel stated the following:

"We are at Anıtkabir on the 102nd anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, the emblem of our national independence.

Today is the day when the Treaty of Sèvres, which imposed a fragmented Türkiye, was torn up and discarded; the day our nation's full independence and sovereignty were declared to the whole world.

I commemorate with mercy and gratitude all our heroes who made these lands our homeland, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who dedicated his life to the independence and freedom of our country, and our Lausanne hero İsmet İnönü.

We promise to resolutely protect the fundamental principles of our Republic and to overcome every obstacle we face with even greater resistance."
