Wanted for 10 years: Fugitive FETÖ member from the assassination team targeting Erdoğan captured in Afyonkarahisar

The Ministry announced that B.K., a FETÖ member who took part in the assassination attempt in Marmaris on July 15 and had been sought with a red notice for 10 years, was captured in Afyonkarahisar.

The Ministry of Interior announced that B.K., who is stated to have been part of the team that carried out the assassination attempt against AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Marmaris during the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, has been captured.

According to the Ministry's statement, the dismissed helicopter pilot captain B.K. had been sought with a red notice for approximately 10 years. The suspect was taken into custody during an operation conducted in Afyonkarahisar.

 

It was reported that the operation was carried out as a result of efforts coordinated by the General Directorate of Security's Intelligence Department. The statement noted that the capture was made by teams from the Afyonkarahisar Counter-Terrorism (TEM) Branch Directorate following joint work by the intelligence branches of the Afyonkarahisar and Eskişehir provincial police departments.

In the Ministry of Interior's statement, it was expressed that B.K. served within the special forces team that carried out the assassination attempt against President Erdoğan in the Marmaris district of Muğla on July 15.
