A tense development has occurred in the city of Salmas in northwestern Iran. Sources from the Iranian Ministry of Defense announced that they detected Israeli-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) violating their airspace and that air defense systems deployed in the region shot down these vehicles.
There has been no official statement from Israel regarding the matter yet. However, some security sources reflected in the Israeli media claimed that UAVs were actively used in the operations launched to target Iran's missile infrastructure. In this context, it was stated that some UAVs were planned to infiltrate much deeper into Iranian territory but encountered Iranian defenses on the Salmas line.
UAVs were at the forefront of the attack launched by Israel against Iran on the morning of June 13. Israeli intelligence sources had previously announced that they had established secret bases inside Iran before the operation and launched the explosive-carrying unmanned vehicles from these points. These UAVs were specifically aimed at conducting precision strikes against missile launchers and nuclear infrastructure around Tehran.
