Warning on Ekrem İmamoğlu from 12punto columnist and political scientist Onur Alp Yılmaz: 'They are trying to gauge the reaction'

In Istanbul, Esenyurt Municipality's CHP Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained at his home in the morning hours.
Searches were conducted at Özer's home and the municipal building. During this time, a large number of police officers were stationed in front of the Esenyurt Municipality.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that "Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained as part of investigations conducted to identify the members and activities of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."
Following his statement at the prosecutor's office, Özer was referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for his arrest. After these developments, it was reported that a trustee had been appointed to the Esenyurt Municipality.
While there have been harsh reactions to the developments, particularly from the CHP and DEM Party fronts, 12punto columnist and political scientist Onur Alp Yılmaz made a striking comment on the ongoing process.
In a post on his social media account, Yılmaz stated that the process could extend to İmamoğlu and wrote the following:
The government is watching to see how much noise will come from the CHP and the public. They are trying to gauge what the social reaction would be if this matter reaches İmamoğlu and if a ban is imposed on him. At the same time, they are trying to discredit and isolate the CHP and İmamoğlu through security-oriented rhetoric. This is no joke.
