Warnings from Şamil Tayyar to the opposition and the government based on a poll: For success...

Metropoll Research's "Pulse of Turkey January 2026" study revealed a deep gap between the demand for change in the government among voters and the trust placed in the opposition. AKP member Tayyar also issued warnings to both sides based on the poll in question.

According to the poll results, an overwhelming majority of 67.1% of society sees a change in government as necessary for the improvement of economic living conditions. The rate of those who think there is no need for a change in government remained at 31.4%. It was notable that approximately 40% of AK Party voters and 41.3% of MHP voters said "change for prosperity."

THE ISSUE OF TRUST IN THE OPPOSITION

Despite the demand for change, there are serious question marks regarding whether the opposition can manage this change. While 60.8% of participants stated that opposition parties are not ready to govern Turkey, the rate of those who say they are "ready" remains at the 37.4% level.

NOTABLE COMMENT FROM TAYYAR

AKP member Şamil Tayyar commented on Metropoll's poll result via his social media account and used the following expressions:

"Metropoll's research reveals the calculation error of those who write the government's cyclical loss of altitude into the opposition's path to power.

We have pointed out this erroneous calculation many times.

Society is angry at the government due to a tangle of problems such as economic difficulties, but it also cannot trust the opposition.

Metropoll asks, 'Is the opposition ready to govern the country?', and 60.8% of participants say 'no'.

It is clear that the opposition cannot pave the way to power by merely stomping on protest votes.

The fact that the opposition cannot give confidence to society even in an environment where the AK Party is at its most relatively disadvantaged in its 24-year political journey is clear proof of this.

The research shows that anger at the government has not yet turned into absolute hopelessness.

Naturally, it is understood that if the government dries up the source of social anger, the opposition's future scenario will collapse entirely.
