Water price hike in Istanbul: To be updated monthly
A 17.5 percent hike in water prices was approved at the IMM Assembly's İSKİ General Assembly. With this decision, the first-tier unit price of water in Istanbul rose from 32.28 liras to 37.92 liras. It was also decided that prices will be adjusted and updated every month based on the CPI and PPI rates.

At the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly, a 17.5 percent hike in water prices was approved, and it was decided that these prices would be updated regularly every month based on the result obtained by adding the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) and dividing the sum by two.
The fifth session of the IMM Assembly's November meetings began at the municipal building in Saraçhane, chaired by the Assembly's 1st Deputy Speaker Nuri Aslan.
During the meeting, the tariff proposal regarding water sales and wastewater removal fees was discussed at the İSKİ General Assembly.
17.5 PERCENT HIKE APPROVED
In the proposal, where the IMM requested a 17.5 percent hike in water prices based on usage volume, it was requested that the current price of 32.28 liras per cubic meter in the first tier for residential use (0-15 cubic meters) be increased by 17.47 percent to 37.92 liras; the price of 49.17 liras in the second tier (up to 30 cubic meters) be increased by 17.51 percent to 57.78 liras; and the price of 71.10 liras in the third tier (31 cubic meters and above) be increased by 17.51 percent to 83.55 liras.
For workplaces, it was requested that the price of 84.51 liras per cubic meter in the first tier (0-15 cubic meters) be increased by 17.50 percent to 99.30 liras; the price in the second tier (16-50 cubic meters) be increased from 89.49 liras by 17.49 percent to 105.15 liras; the price in the third tier (51-100 cubic meters) be increased from 109.98 liras by 17.51 percent to 129.24 liras; and the price in the fourth tier (101 cubic meters and above) be increased from 114.99 liras by 17.50 percent to 135.12 liras.
The proposal stated, "The water and wastewater unit prices in this table are valid for January 2025. In 2025, water and wastewater unit prices will be updated every month at the rate of '(Consumer Price Index (CPI) + Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI)) / 2' as announced monthly by TURKSTAT. The new tariff will be put into effect within 3 business days at the latest following the announcement of the monthly CPI and D-PPI data by TURKSTAT."
The water price hike proposal, which was voted on in the assembly, was accepted by majority vote.
WATER CONNECTION/DISCONNECTION FEE INCREASED BY 66.22 PERCENT
The "İSKİ 2025 Service Fee Tariffs" proposal was also discussed at the assembly.
Within the scope of the proposal, it was requested that the water disconnection/reconnection fee be increased from 228 liras by 66.22 percent to 379 liras; the septic tank service fee be increased from 863 liras by 7.64 percent to 929 liras; the construction project review fee be increased from 737 liras by 19.53 percent to 881 liras; the network project review and approval fee be increased from 6 thousand 930 liras by 19.75 percent to 8 thousand 299 liras; and the network survey project review and approval fee be increased from 12 thousand 628 liras by 34.36 percent to 16 thousand 968 liras.
The proposal for the hike in "Service Fee Tariffs" was also approved by majority vote.
