Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın has announced another critical decision following a period of intense activity within the party. Konya has been added to the chain of closures that began with Istanbul on April 6. The MHP Konya Provincial and District organizations were officially dissolved in accordance with the party charter, and Sedat Göncü was appointed to the vacant seat. With this decision, the number of provincial organizations dissolved in the recent period has risen to 15.
The comprehensive restructuring and liquidation operation initiated by the MHP Headquarters toward its provincial organizations continues at full speed. In the shadow of internal tensions that emerged in party corridors and were reflected in the public eye following the resignation of Deputy Chairman İzzet Ulvi Yönter, this time the doors were locked on the Konya organization, which is seen as one of the party's strongest strongholds.
CHARTER ARTICLES INVOKED, NEW CHAIRMAN APPOINTED
MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın, in a written statement made via his social media account, stated that the decision was taken in accordance with the charter and used the following expressions:
"The Nationalist Movement Party Konya provincial organization bodies have been dissolved in accordance with the relevant article of our charter, based on the authority granted by Articles 52 and 54 of our party charter.
Within the framework of the authority granted by the same articles, Sedat Göncü has been appointed to the position of Nationalist Movement Party Konya Provincial Chairman."
15 PROVINCIAL ORGANIZATIONS DISSOLVED IN 2 MONTHS
The process, which began with the sudden dissolution of the Istanbul Provincial Organization on April 6, 2026, has turned into a domino effect in a short period of two months. Citing party policies and charter compliance, the MHP Headquarters has dismissed the administration in 15 provinces across Turkey to date.
