'We parted ways by mutual agreement,' they had said... Dilan Polat's lawyer returns

Dilan and Engin Polat, who were arrested on charges of "money laundering," "violation of the Tax Procedure Law," and "establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," had previously parted ways with their lawyer Hüseyin Kaya.

Announcing the separation on her social media account, Dilan Polat had stated, "We have parted ways with lawyer 'Hüseyin Kaya' by mutual agreement. We thank him for his efforts and wish him success in his professional life. Respectfully announced to the public." Hüseyin Kaya had also confirmed this information following Dilan Polat's statement.

12punto has learned that Hüseyin Kaya has recently resumed his role as the lawyer for the Dilan-Engin Polat couple.

JUDGE HAD WITHDRAWN FROM THE CASE

In the trial where Dilan Polat and Engin Polat were being tried on charges of incitement in the armed attack on Banu Parlak's workplace, the presiding judge had decided to withdraw from the case due to pressure from the lawyer. The presiding judge, Recep Baş, had alleged that Dilan Polat's lawyer, Hüseyin Kaya, had pressured him to meet privately.

According to the petition prepared by the judge, lawyer Hüseyin Kaya wanted to meet with the judge in his office, but Judge Baş rejected this request. It was alleged that Kaya then used the expression, "Can someone who informs me that I cannot see the file in any way, except for lawyers, look at my office?" and entered the judge's office without permission. The petition also stated that the lawyer tried to humiliate the judge with expressions such as, "What do you mean you cannot meet, you are not a judge."

MEETING WITH BANU PARLAK

Banu Parlak had withdrawn her complaint in the beauty center shooting case, in which Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat were being tried. Parlak had said, "I have come to the conclusion that Dilan and her family would not engage in such an act. For this reason, I have withdrawn my complaint against them."

Following this development, it was alleged that Selin Ciğerci, who had a stormy marriage with Gökhan Çıra, acted as an intermediary for Banu Parlak to withdraw her complaint. It was even claimed that Ciğerci demanded 25 million liras for this mediation.

Dilan Polat's lawyer, Hüseyin Kaya, spoke about the allegations on the program "Kayıt Dışı" on TELE1. Kaya denied the allegations that Selin Ciğerci acted as an intermediary in Banu Parlak's withdrawal of her complaint and that she demanded 25 million liras.

Confirming the meeting with Banu Parlak, Kaya had stated the following:

"Banu Parlak withdrew her complaint without receiving any payment. In terms of legal consequences, there is a withdrawal of the complaint in the file. We met at the office of Banu Hanım's lawyer and also at a place where Dilan and Engin Polat's relatives were present. She very politely stated that she was saddened and that the complaints she made did not fully overlap with the content of the file, and she withdrew her complaint. There were intermediaries. They called me one day before the hearing. They said, 'What do you think about this case?' Because I trust my file very much and think that a 100 percent acquittal decision should be issued, and because I know the days when we will be the complainants as my clients were victims of a conspiracy, we did not think about it. Banu Hanım showed a very understanding acceptance and changed her complaint."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

In the operations carried out on November 1, 2023, and subsequently in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul, 24 suspects, including Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, were detained. While 16 of the suspects, including Dilan Polat, Engin Polat, and Sıla Doğu, were arrested on November 5, 2023, the court ruled for the appointment of trustees to 27 companies.
