The fraud case involving former Denizbank branch manager Seçil Erzan, who collected money from football players and business people under the name of the 'Fatih Terim Fund' with promises of high returns, continues to remain on the agenda.

Seçil Erzan, who faces up to 226 years in prison, had her lawyer Nazlı Nadide Karaaslan answer questions from Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz.

Explaining that Seçil Erzan started this business when Ali Yörük said, “You made a lot of money for Atilla Köşkdere, evaluate our money too,” and that the figures spiraled out of control after a while, lawyer Karaaslan stated the following:

“IT WILL BE REVEALED WHO SEÇİL GAVE WHAT TO”

“In 2021, the stock market turned upside down. She wanted to find more money because she was trading with leverage in the stock market. She got deeper into interest debt. She met Süleyman Aslan, Ayhan Akman, and Barış Tari. She got them involved. Semih Kaya and Fırat Özdemir gave one and earned three. After that, Arda, Muslera... Ayhan Akman brought real estate agent Serdar Şenol. Şenol brought Barış Tari. Semih Kaya said, ‘Selçuk brother also has money.’ That’s how Seçil called Selçuk İnan. İnan asked Semih, ‘Is there such a fund?’ He said, ‘Yes, I am earning, join in.’ Now they are denying it. The expert has recovered more than 180 thousand deleted WhatsApp messages, and the work is ongoing. We will match the HTS records with the messages. It will be revealed who Seçil gave what to.”

“Everyone asks, ‘Where is the money?’ I ask: Did Semih Kaya have the income to buy a 4,200,000 Euro house in Bodrum and live for a year and a half without touching that money?” said lawyer Karaaslan, adding that Seçil Erzan distributed the money she received by hand.

“YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT, THERE IS REALLY NOT A SINGLE PENNY”

Karaaslan said, “You won't believe it. There is really not a single penny. Everyone says, ‘She must have buried it somewhere.’ If she buried it, I will be very disappointed. She blocked her mother’s 7,500 TL pension by forging her signature for a loan she took out. Her mother is disabled and is not in a condition to sign. She was arrested while the installments were still ongoing. Her mother hasn't been able to receive a single penny of her pension since she was arrested.”

ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF WHY SEÇİL ERZAN DID NOT FLEE

Stating that “People were queuing up even before the money arrived. She distributed this money while there were always people around her,” Karaaslan responded to the question of why Seçil Erzan did not flee when she had money in her hands by saying, “She can't flee, she is a cowardly girl. She has a Schengen visa, but she doesn't flee. The money she received from Belözoğlu, Çağlar, and the Çeviker family is 10,000,000 dollars. If she wanted to, she could have fled with that money. She went to Çorlu to say goodbye to her mother.”

“THEY DON'T SAY ‘WE HEARD SHE GAVE MORE INTEREST, SO WE GAVE IT,’ THEY SAY ‘SEÇİL DECEIVED US!’”

Stating that Seçil Erzan’s situation in prison is very bad, that she cries a lot, and says, “I am guilty, but I also went bankrupt,” Karaaslan continued as follows:

“ONLY BELÖZOĞLU IS INNOCENT”

“In my opinion, these were not sophisticated lies, Mr. İsmail. Would you give this much money to a banker with these documents? They don't say, ‘We heard she gave more interest, so we gave it,’ they say, ‘Seçil deceived us.’ Seçil is a liar, I have nothing to say to that. I told Seçil to her face. But she is not telling a sophisticated lie that could get 4,000,000 dollars. Only Belözoğlu is innocent. Why? Because he didn't like the document Volkan Bahçekapılı brought. He showed up at the bank the next day. He is the only and first person to get a double signature from Asiye Öztürk. All the others went after documents only when they heard that Seçil could not pay the money.”

“PEOPLE HANDED OVER THEIR MONEY THROUGH WORD-OF-MOUTH ADVERTISING”

“Without needing to tell a sophisticated lie, people handed over their money through word-of-mouth advertising. Would you give it? I wouldn't give 1,000 dollars for those notepads. Why did they give it? Because they knew Seçil gave a lot of interest.”
