Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli’s call, the DEM Party’s meeting with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı, and their subsequent visits to political parties continue to hold their place on the agenda.
Nefes Gazetesi columnist Nuray Babacan shared what is being discussed in AKP corridors regarding the new process in her column today.
Stating that "everyone agrees that the process should not be prolonged," Babacan added, "There are also optimists who say that the process will lead to results regarding Selahattin Demirtaş’s release from prison, and the release of Osman Kavala and the Gezi detainees."
The relevant part of Babacan’s article, titled "Intelligence notes in the AKP," is as follows:
"- The resolution process is being evaluated through the PKK’s fragmented structure. There are hesitations regarding the pro-Iran and pro-US wings. It is observed that despite losing power, Iran is still playing games, and the reality of the US’s insistence on the YPG remains.
- Everyone agrees that the process should not be prolonged. The connection between Qandil and the PKK with international intelligence organizations is clearly visible. It is explained how the first resolution process was blocked by these forces from the outside and by FETÖ from the inside. Examples of terrorist attacks carried out in 2015 to sabotage the resolution process are being listed.
- There are also optimists who say that the results of the process will lead to Selahattin Demirtaş’s release from prison, and the release of Osman Kavala and the Gezi detainees. Comments are being made that Öcalan will be influential in Qandil, while Demirtaş will be influential among the younger generation of Kurds within Turkey.
- There are also responses to criticisms regarding whether there is a ‘state mind’ in these efforts. The influence of former MIT undersecretaries Emre Taner and Şenkal Atasagun on Devlet Bahçeli’s stance is being openly discussed. The phrase ‘the same generation’ is being used.
