According to recent reports on internet usage habits in Turkey, digital life in the country, with a population approaching 86 million, is increasingly becoming mobile-centric. While the number of unique users accessing the internet is rising rapidly, a significant portion of daily time spent online occurs via smartphones.
WE SPEND 7 HOURS AND 13 MINUTES ON THE INTERNET
Assessments show that an individual in Turkey spends an average of 7 hours and 13 minutes on the internet. Of this time, 4 hours and 4 minutes are spent on smartphones, and 76.58% of internet traffic has shifted to mobile devices.
The number of mobile subscribers continues to rise. As of the third quarter of 2025, the total number of mobile subscribers in the country has reached 99.1 million. Furthermore, with approximately 62.3 million active social media users, 70.9% of the population in Turkey is actively present on these platforms. The total weekly time spent on social media is calculated at an average of 25 hours and 4 minutes.
The desire to access information ranks first in internet usage in Turkey: 71.6% of users state that they turn to the internet primarily to obtain information.
In terms of social media preferences, Instagram stands out. While 89.5% of social network users in Turkey spend time actively on Instagram, WhatsApp is preferred by 88.9% and YouTube by 78%. This trio is followed by Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) in the rankings.
MOST PREFERRED PLATFORMS
In terms of mobile operating systems for internet access, Android is the most preferred platform with a 77.5% market share. The rate of iOS users remained at 22.15%. Among desktop computer operating systems, Windows maintains its lead with a rate of 81.4%. The most used browser on the internet is Google Chrome with a rate of 75.81%, followed by Safari in second place with a 12.44% share.
When looking at online search engines, it is notable that market leadership has shifted to Yandex. In Turkey, where Yandex holds a 50.5 percent market share, Google's rate stands at around 44 percent.
WEATHER IS THE MOST SEARCHED TERM
While Google leads as the most visited website, it was stated that the most intensive search topic for Turkish users on the platform is "weather."
