What will happen to the weapons the terrorist organization PKK 'will lay down'? The role of the MIT has been determined, with a notable detail regarding the NSC

Following the adoption and enactment of the Bill on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, known in the public eye as the framework law, by the TBMM, the implementation details regarding the laying down of arms and the dissolution of the terrorist organization PKK in the second opening process have begun to clarify.

According to the report by Nefes, plans are in place to establish separate mechanisms for the surrender of weapons as part of the process. The National Intelligence Organization (MIT) is expected to determine the duties, authorities, and areas of responsibility of relevant public institutions and organizations and inform them accordingly.

In identifying the weapon and ammunition depots belonging to the terrorist organization, statements from surrendering organization members will also be utilized. Based on this information, the locations of the depots will be determined; security units will take delivery of and register the weapons and ammunition at the identified points.

The surrender process will not be limited to firearms and ammunition. According to the plan, the goal is to ensure the surrender of all equipment used by the organization, including bombs, drones, and satellite radios.

Following the laying down of arms, the MIT is expected to conduct field detection operations and ensure that all surrendered weapons, ammunition, and explosives are registered. It is planned that the distribution of duties for the surrender operations will be made according to regions, while the Turkish Armed Forces are expected to undertake tasks for operations beyond the border.

NSC DECISION AT THE FINAL STAGE

One of the critical stages of the process will be the confirmation that the organization has surrendered its weapons and completely dissolved itself. Once it is determined that these conditions have been met, the National Security Council (NSC) is expected to take a decision.

With the publication of the decision regarding the dissolution of the terrorist organization in the Official Gazette, it is planned that other mechanisms envisaged within the scope of the process will also come into effect.
