WhatsApp messages sent by Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı to Nagehan Alçı: 'They are fantasizing about you as ROK's wife'

Habertürk columnist Nagehan Alçı, who divorced Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı by mutual agreement in a single hearing on October 3, 2023, had previously exposed a cycle of violence that she said had lasted for many years and continued even after the divorce. Now, WhatsApp messages sent by Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı to Nagehan Alçı have emerged.

Journalist Nagehan Alçı has filed both a criminal complaint and a lawsuit for 250,000 TL in non-pecuniary damages against her ex-husband, Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı, through her lawyer.

It is alleged that Nagehan Alçı was subjected to severe psychological, physical, and economic violence and threats by Kütahyalı throughout their marriage. It was stated that the contested divorce case was concluded as a mutual agreement because Alçı is a well-known figure and to prevent their young children from being negatively affected.

In the petition, which claims that Nagehan Alçı could not escape Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı's severe violence even after the divorce decision, the following statements were used: “For the client, whose safety is now also in danger, filing a complaint has become mandatory. As we will prove with the WhatsApp message samples we will present in the annex of this petition, the defendant continuously insults the plaintiff, threatens the plaintiff, and also sends messages to third parties by posing as a police officer, making baseless accusations against the plaintiff and slandering her.”

HE SHOWERED HER WITH INSULTS IN THE MESSAGES

The petition, obtained by B Yüzü, also provided examples of messages allegedly sent by Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı. Accordingly, some of the messages Kütahyalı sent to Alçı are as follows:

-"loser person", "loser creature", "low-level failed pathetic person", "spoiled, arrogant", "fake and insidious person", "incompetent", "stupid", "ignorant",

-"servant, are you İbrahim Tatlıses' woman", "you became a dog", "you are serving like a dog", "I am disgusted by your old-fashioned disgraceful identity", "be honorable, be proud",

-"Nagehan you are an idiot, you are stupid", "you are a spiritually ugly person", "you are rotten inside, senile, dotard",

-"you are dead, you are deaaaddd", "they are fantasizing about you as ROK's wife, they are thinking if they can get something out of this"

MESSAGES OF INSULTS TOWARD AYDIN DOĞAN AND CAVİT ÇAĞLAR

The petition states that Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı sent insulting messages after a dinner invitation on May 28, which many journalists, including Nagehan Alçı, attended. Among the names Kütahyalı insulted are Aydın Doğan and former Minister Cavit Çağlar.

In the petition submitted by Alçı's lawyer, the matter was described as follows:

“Because she attended the dinner invitation, he insulted both the client and highly respected public figures present at the invitation, including Cavit Çağlar and Aydın Doğan, by saying (writing): ‘You are a 47-year-old hag who is an appetizer at the Saturday table of those dishonorable people, sucking up to them; I will make all those sons of b...es, especially Cavit Çağlar, regret being born from their mothers’, ‘Go and read this to those dogs too, while you are an appetizer at their table on Saturday’.”

It was also stated that Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı uses multiple phone numbers at the same time.

“HE ISSUED MANY HIGH-LIMIT CREDIT CARDS IN ALÇI'S NAME”

Another striking part of the petition concerns the credit cards issued in Nagehan Alçı's name. The following was recorded regarding the issue in the petition:

“While the marriage union was ongoing, Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı forced the plaintiff client to sign numerous bank documents, and by abusing the power of attorney he received from the client, he issued many high-limit credit cards in the name of the plaintiff Nagehan Alçı; he used some of them himself and allowed third parties to use others without the client's knowledge or consent, thereby obtaining unfair profit from this usage.

The client only became aware that the credit cards in question were being used by third parties when she was summoned to testify following a notification sent to her within the scope of an investigation conducted by the T.R. Revenue Administration regarding a person named Elif D., with tax ID 261 017 **.

Although the plaintiff client stated many times that she wanted to cancel these credit cards, both while the marriage was ongoing, during the divorce phase, and after the divorce was finalized, she was severely threatened and manipulated by the defendant each time. Countless messages in which the plaintiff client expressed her desire to pay off the debts of the credit cards in question and have them closed to use, and was threatened by the defendant in return, will be presented to our complaint file.”

KÜTAHYALI AND HIS FATHER ARE CALLING ALÇI'S FRIENDS

In the petition submitted by Nagehan Alçı's lawyer, it was noted that Kütahyalı and his father called Alçı's friends and made baseless statements:

“The defendant Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı constantly threatens the client with ‘slandering her, disgracing her, and making her unable to show her face in public’.

Indeed, the defendant and his father called the plaintiff's journalist friends and acquaintances and made baseless statements about the client. The journalists who were called by the defendant and his father will be heard as our witnesses in court, and we also reserve all our rights to file complaints and lawsuits regarding the defendant's father.”

HE POSED AS A POLICE OFFICER AND SENT MESSAGES: “NAGEHAN ALÇI IS A TRAITOR”

In the petition obtained by B Yüzü, it was stated that Nagehan Alçı had put a phone belonging to Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı into her bag, thinking it was her own, and later realized it belonged to Kütahyalı. While the phone was handed over to the prosecutor's office, examples were given from the messages inside:

“As will be seen from the examination of the phone in question, the defendant uses both this phone and other lines and phones he is actively using to pose as a ‘police officer’. In the phone he saved as ‘Rasim Ozan 3’, he made his profile picture a police emblem and explicitly wrote: ‘Dear President Mustafa Ertekin, I am watching you right now on the KRT channel and I am amazed by your upright stance. I am a police officer serving at the Greek Consulate General in Istanbul. I work in the Protection Branch. I wanted to write this message when I saw you on the same program with the so-called journalist named Nagehan Alçı, who is a Greek sympathizer. Nihal Bengisu is also a traitor, and Nagehan Alçı is also a traitor’; ‘Nagehan Alçı has also been engaged with this Greek agent for a long time. She is completely under Chrissodoulis' control. Nagehan Alçı is being directed by Greek interests’. By saying these things, he accuses the client, who is deeply attached to her country, nation, and homeland with the most sincere feelings, of being a ‘traitor’, commits the crimes of slander and insult against the client in the ugliest way, and commits another separate crime by unlawfully posing as a public official. All of the defendant's actions in question have clearly caused severe and irreparable damage to the plaintiff client's personal rights.”

ALLEGATION: “HE CONTINUES TO USE THE CREDIT CARD BY THREATENING”

In the complaint petition, where it is alleged that Rasim Ozan Kütahyalı threatened Nagehan Alçı by sending messages such as "my lawyers are telling me to start a media war against you" and tried to ensure he could continue using the credit cards in Alçı's name through this method, the following was recorded:

“For all the reasons we have explained and as can be seen in some of the WhatsApp message printouts we will present in the annex of this petition, the personal rights of the client, who has been subjected to the defendant's insults and threats for a long time, have been damaged as a result of the defendant's unjust and severe actions, and her family life and social reputation have been negatively affected. The client cannot even perform her job peacefully due to the defendant's threats. Likewise, the client's reputation and respectability have been damaged as a result of the defendant's actions against her personal rights.

Unfortunately, as a result of these experiences, the client has experienced deep sadness, grief, suffering, and sorrow, and has been constantly subjected to the fear that the defendant will harm her. For these reasons, our obligation to file this lawsuit with a request for non-pecuniary damages has arisen.”
