WHEN IS THE CABINET MEETING, WHAT TIME?

The Cabinet is meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025, under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The meeting, which will be held at the Presidential Complex, is expected to start at 15.00.

WHAT ARE THE AGENDA ITEMS AND TOPICS OF THE CABINET MEETING?

The focus of the meeting will be the tension between Israel and Iran and the salary adjustment regulations for retirees and civil servants.

ISRAEL-IRAN CONFLICT ON THE AGENDA

The tension that has recently escalated between Israel and Iran will be one of the most important agenda items of the Cabinet Meeting. Within the framework of the peace diplomacy he is conducting, President Erdoğan held two phone calls with US President Donald Trump in the last 24 hours. In the meetings, Erdoğan expressed that he welcomed Trump's statements regarding ending the conflicts in the region and ensuring peace. In addition to these developments, the possible political and security effects of the situation in the region on Turkey will also be evaluated in the Cabinet.

On the other hand, with the tension on the Israel-Iran line driving up oil prices, the effects of the war on the Turkish economy and possible inflationary pressures will also be discussed in the meeting's economic agenda.

TERROR-FREE TURKEY

Another important topic of the meeting will be the PKK's disarmament process and the efforts carried out within the scope of the "Terror-Free Turkey" goal. Following the organization's decision to dissolve, the stage of the process regarding the surrender of weapons to Turkey will be evaluated in detail in the Cabinet.

CIVIL SERVANT AND RETIREE SALARY INCREASES

The countdown continues for the salary increases for retirees and civil servants to be made in July. According to the data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.53 percent in May 2025. Thus, the 5-month inflation rate for the January-May period reached 15.10 percent. The inflation difference calculated for civil servants was 8.58 percent. The increase rates will become clear with the June data that TÜİK will announce on Thursday, July 3, at 10.00.

On the other hand, salary increases were also brought to the agenda at the last meeting of the Economic Coordination Board (EKK). AKP sources state that the legal regulation prepared after the announcement of the CPI data will be submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

SALARIES OF PUBLIC WORKERS

Another important issue to be discussed at the Cabinet Meeting will be the salary increases for public workers. Within the scope of the negotiations for the Public Collective Bargaining Framework Protocol covering the 2025-2026 period, which concerns approximately 600 thousand public workers, according to the offer of TÜHİS, which represents the employer side, a 16 percent increase was proposed for the first 6 months and 8 percent for the second 6 months. For the second year, a 7 percent increase was proposed for the first 6 months and 5 percent for the second half of the year.

TÜRK-İŞ Chairman Ergün Atalay reacted to the proposals, stating, "We will explain that these rates are not negotiable. A hot summer awaits us in the collective bargaining process."
