As we head toward the new year, air temperatures have begun to drop. With the cooling of the weather, snowfall has become effective in higher altitudes. Istanbul residents are wondering when it will snow in the city.

CNN TÜRK Meteorology Consultant Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen shared his weather forecast and provided a date for snowfall. According to Şen's statement, snow is not expected in the near future.

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen included the following statements in his remarks:

"Precipitation has receded in the western regions. Even though the sun is out today, the weather is cold; we are still feeling the chill. We had warned that there could be significant rainfall around Zonguldak. A landslide occurred. Currently, the weather is clear, the temperature is around 11 degrees, and it will be around 12 degrees tomorrow. There will be no precipitation until Friday. Tonight and tomorrow, there will be downpours in the coastal areas between Antalya, Mersin, and Muğla. There is snow in the East, in the north of Eastern Anatolia. There is no rain in the Marmara region until next Friday. There is none in the Aegean and Central Anatolia either. We are entering a week without rain. The Lodos (southwest wind) will increase its effect. Irregular weather continues in Turkey."

'WATCH OUT FOR AFTER FRIDAY'

"Snow is not coming to Istanbul. Because the incoming systems arrive via the Mediterranean, they bring rain, not snow. Until Friday, the temperature will be 12-13 degrees in Istanbul, and it will rise to 18 degrees on Friday. The Lodos will also arrive, but the wind is turning to the north, and temperatures will drop rapidly. Temperatures will drop by 8-9 degrees across Turkey. Starting from Saturday and Sunday, snow will come to Turkey, but it will not come to Istanbul. Heavy snowfall will be seen in Central Anatolia, the inner Aegean, the south and east of Marmara, and Eastern Anatolia. It will have an impact on transportation. Fog will occur in Central Anatolia, Thrace, and the Aegean. It may have an impact on transportation.

We are feeling colder due to the humidity. It will be a week without precipitation for Turkey. There is a rapid drop after Friday. There will be snowfall in Central Anatolia."

NO SNOW IN SIGHT THIS MONTH

"Snowfall is more frequent in mild weather. It can snow a lot in Anatolia. When will snow come to Istanbul? When we look at it, snow is not visible this month. It will snow in the new year. It will definitely snow in Istanbul."
