Footage of Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Göktaş visiting shopkeepers in Belgium has sparked a wave of criticism after circulating on social media. At a time when Turkey is grappling with deepening economic problems and shopkeepers are struggling to make ends meet, Göktaş's contacts abroad have become a major topic of discussion among citizens.

Numerous social media users expressed their reactions with comments such as, "Those who are afraid to walk through the markets in their own country are touring markets in other countries," "If you're brave enough, come and visit the shopkeepers in Ulus, Ankara," and "Has she solved Turkey's problems, and now only Brussels is left?" The shopkeeper segment, in particular, stated that they are in an economic bottleneck and argued that their problems are being ignored.

DEVA Party Ankara MP İdris Şahin also brought the issue to the agenda on social media. Addressing Minister Göktaş, he directed his criticism at the government, saying, "Are you the Minister of Family for Belgium or for Turkey? While you travel from country to country abroad and visit shopkeepers in Brussels, the institution of the family in Turkey is struggling with increasingly severe problems every day." Şahin also reminded that the parliamentary question he submitted regarding Göktaş's foreign visits has yet to be answered, emphasizing that the Minister should focus more on her duties within her area of responsibility.
