WHO IS RESUL EMRAH ŞAHAN?

Resul Emrah Şahan was born in Ankara in 1982. Having completed his undergraduate education at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Şahan began his professional career as an urban planner within the Istanbul Metropolitan Planning (İMP) organization. During this period, he conducted studies on the Fatih Süleymaniye district.

Between 2006 and 2011, he founded a company operating in the software and media sectors, and in 2012, he began working in local government. He has worked on large-scale plans and field studies.

Between 2014 and 2019, he served as a Project Coordinator in the Technical Coordination and Projects Unit at the Beylikdüzü Municipality, and in the 2019 local elections, he served as the moderator of the team working on urban policies.

Having lived in Şişli for over 20 years, Şahan was elected as a member of the Şişli Municipality and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Councils in 2019 and served as Deputy Mayor of Şişli between 2019 and 2023. He also held the positions of President of the Istanbul Planning Agency and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Boğaziçi Landscape Construction Consultancy Technical Services Inc. (BİMTAŞ).

Outside of his professional life, Şahan is also actively involved in the activities of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and was elected Mayor of Şişli as the Republican People's Party (CHP) candidate in the 2024 local elections.
