While Türkeş's daughter says 'hang them', son Türkeş makes a 'supernova' comparison

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli recently repeated his call for terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan to speak in Parliament. Ayyüce Türkeş, the daughter of the party's founder Alparslan Türkeş, had reacted harshly, saying, "They should take down Türkeş's pictures; they should hang the terrorist leader's pictures instead."

Alparslan Türkeş's son, AKP Ankara MP Tuğrul Türkeş, joined the debate that shook the agenda days later and evaluated Bahçeli's statement.

Tuğrul Türkeş compared the call for terrorist leader Öcalan, which also brought about new resolution process discussions, to a supernova. Stating that Turkish politics has entered an unknown phase, Türkeş said, "We listened to what was said, we read what was written. When we evaluate it cool-headedly and objectively, it is the occurrence of a SUPERNOVA event in Turkish politics."

Sharing his assessment of the issue on his social media, Tuğrul Türkeş said the following:

"Turkish politics, which began its new term as of the beginning of October, seems to have entered a phase where strong statements are made, which creates confusion, and where it is unknown whether one should be afraid or hopeful.

On the other hand, we have also observed that there may be those who are eager to raise the stakes, like a gambler.

Many of our media colleagues asked how we view the issue and what our assessments are. We listened to what was said, we read what was written. When we evaluate the events more cool-headedly and objectively, the conclusion I have reached is;

It is the occurrence of a SUPERNOVA event in Turkish politics.

I think this will be diagnosed and observed even better in the coming days."
