WHY WAS HE DETAINED?

Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention warrant was issued for CHP Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler and three others on charges of 'rigging a tender.' Additionally, arrest and detention procedures were carried out for 17 other individuals on charges of 'rigging a tender,' 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime,' 'membership in an organization,' and 'aiding an organization.'

Köseler and the other suspects were detained in an operation organized by the Financial Crimes Investigation Branch of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department. The suspects were taken to the Vatan Campus of the Istanbul Police Department for processing. While it was stated that police teams are continuing their searches at the Beykoz Municipality, it was reported that the investigation is ongoing.

WHO IS ALAATTİN KÖSELER?

Born in 1960 in the Paşabahçe district of Beykoz, Alaattin Köseler is a member of a family that has lived in Beykoz for three generations. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education in Beykoz, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Yıldız Technical University in 1983. He began his architectural career as a project manager and site supervisor at various construction firms before establishing his own office.

Köseler, who played basketball for 12 years at the Beykoz Sports Club and served as its president, completed his military service in Mamak, Ankara. He began his master's degree in the Interior Architecture Department at Mimar Sinan University and became a member of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB).

Köseler, who began his political career as the Mayor of Beykoz in 1999, held this position until 2004. During his tenure, he worked on various projects such as title deed distribution, the construction of an animal shelter, the building of a municipal service facility, and the fight against unemployment. He was re-elected as the Mayor of Beykoz from the CHP in the 2024 local elections.
