WHO IS BURHAN KÖROĞLU?
Burhan Köroğlu was born in Istanbul in 1962. After graduating from the Department of Philosophy at Istanbul University, he completed his master's degree at the University of Jordan and his doctoral studies in Islamic Philosophy at Marmara University.
After working as a faculty member at Marmara University, Middlebury College (USA), the University of Jordan, Bahçeşehir University, and Ibn Haldun University, he most recently served as a professor at the Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Countries Studies at Marmara University.
At various times, he served as the director of the Bahçeşehir University Center for Civilization Studies (MEDAM), director of the Ibn Haldun University Institute of Social Sciences, head of the Department of Philosophy at Ibn Haldun University, and as an expert researcher at the Al Jazeera Centre for Studies in Qatar.
Burhan Köroğlu, who once served as the chairman of the board of Al Jazeera Turk, has published original works and translations in Turkish, Arabic, and English in the fields of Islamic Philosophy, Political Thought, and Turkish-Arab Relations.
Appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nouakchott by the Presidential Decree dated 14.11.2023 and numbered 2023/497, Ambassador Köroğlu began his duties on December 15, 2023.
Married and a father of three, Burhan Köroğlu is fluent in English and Arabic.
