WHO IS EDİP AKBAYRAM?
Edip Akbayram was born on December 29, 1950, in Gaziantep. His interest in music began at an early age after he contracted polio. Taking his first steps into music by forming an orchestra during his high school years, Akbayram released his first record under the name Siyah Örümcekler. After Gaziantep, he continued his musical life in Adana and later settled in Istanbul, choosing music over dentistry.
Winning first place in the Golden Microphone Competition in 1971, Akbayram founded the Dostlar Orchestra in 1974. He became one of the important names in Anatolian pop music. He achieved high sales figures with tracks like "Aldırma Gönül" and "Eşkiya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz" and won nearly 250 awards. Having gone through difficult years during the 80s, Akbayram made a comeback in the 90s, releasing the album "Türküler Yanmaz" and drawing attention to social issues.
In his music, Akbayram focused on the problems of the masses and delivered social messages. He married Ayten Hanım in 1979, and the couple has two children: Türkü and Ozan.
