WHO IS İBRAHİM KABOĞLU?

İbrahim Kaboğlu was born on April 10, 1950, in Borçka, Artvin. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1974. He completed his doctorate at the University of Limoges and Ankara University in 1981.

He became an associate professor in 1987 and a professor at the Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1994.

In 2003, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Prime Ministry Human Rights Advisory Board.

In 2008, he was acquitted in a case filed against him for "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" on the grounds that the report in question had scientific content and did not incite violence.

While serving as the Head of the Constitutional Law Department at Marmara University, he was dismissed from the university by Decree-Law No. 686. He has been writing for Birgün since 2007.

In the 2018 Turkish general elections, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Istanbul from the Republican People's Party (CHP). He applied to be a parliamentary candidate for the CHP in the 2023 Turkish general elections but was not nominated.

On June 2, 2022, he was awarded the Légion d’Honneur, one of France's most prestigious decorations.
