A court application has been filed to cancel the Republican People's Party's extraordinary congress. According to the report on SCZ TV, 3 individuals, including Lütfü Savaş, who was expelled from the CHP in December, have filed an application with the court for the cancellation of the CHP's extraordinary congress.
CONGRESS RESPONSE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF A TRUSTEE
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that he had decided to hold an Extraordinary Congress, planned for April 6, to eliminate the possibility of a 'trustee being appointed' to the party.
Stating that "They want to appoint a trustee to Atatürk's party," Özel said, "We declare to all of Turkey that we have blocked the attempts to appoint a trustee by taking the party to an extraordinary congress."
WHO IS LÜTFÜ SAVAŞ?
Lütfü Savaş was born on March 23, 1965, in the Yayladağı district of Hatay. Completing his primary, secondary, and high school education in the Antakya district of Hatay, Savaş graduated from the Eskişehir Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine in 1990.
Between 1990 and 1996, Savaş worked as a physician in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Justice in the Develi district of Kayseri and the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, and in 2000, he completed his medical specialization training in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at the Istanbul Okmeydanı SSK Training and Research Hospital.
Starting to work at the Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Medicine in 2002, Savaş held administrative positions as deputy chief physician and rector's advisor. Receiving the title of associate professor in 2007, Savaş was elected Mayor of Antakya from the AK Party in the 2009 elections. Later, Savaş was elected Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality from the CHP in 2014 and 2019.
In December 2024, Savaş was expelled from his party, the CHP.
