WHO IS MEHMET ÖMER ARİF ARAS?

Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras was born in Istanbul on November 8, 1954. Graduating from Şişli Terakki High School in 1971, Aras completed his degree at the Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, School of Economics and Finance in 1975. He completed his master's degree at Syracuse University in 1978 and his doctorate in 1981.

After working as an assistant professor at Ohio State University between 1982 and 1984, Aras returned to Turkey and began his business career at Citibank Istanbul in 1984.

In 1987, he was among the founders of Finansbank and served in senior management at the bank. Between 1995 and 2006, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fiba Holding. He served as a board member in Finansbank's international subsidiaries.

Following the acquisition of Finansbank by the National Bank of Greece in 2006, he served in the bank's management. With the acquisition of Finansbank by Qatar National Bank in 2016, he became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of QNB Finansbank.
