Former CHP İzmir MP Selçuk Ayhan, who served as the CHP İzmir Provincial Chairman for many years, has passed away.

The death of Selçuk Ayhan was announced by CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel on his social media account. In his post, Yücel stated: "We have lost our former İzmir Provincial Chairman and İzmir MP, Mr. Selçuk Ayhan. Selçuk Ayhan had been admitted to Ege University Hospital due to a spike in blood sugar and was placed in intensive care. Despite all interventions by doctors, 70-year-old Ayhan passed away.

WHO IS SELÇUK AYHAN?

Selçuk Ayhan was born on November 16, 1953, in the Dinar district of Afyon. A graduate of the Ege University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ayhan was among the founders of the Ege University Faculty of Engineering Student Association during his university years.

Ayhan, who served as the Secretary of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers İzmir Branch between 1978 and 1980, also worked as a project and site engineer. In his career, Ayhan served as Technical Manager at Onursan Limited Company and was also active in the social sphere, serving as the President of the Umurbey Altınoluk Sports Club.

Ayhan began his political career as the CHP candidate for Mayor of Konak in the 1994 local elections and was elected as a Republican People's Party (CHP) MP for İzmir in the 2007 Turkish general elections.

Married and a father of three, Selçuk Ayhan was known and recognized for his professional and political achievements.
