WHY WAS THE GALATA BRIDGE CLOSED?
The Great Palestine March was organized in Istanbul with the participation of nearly 400 non-governmental organizations gathered under the umbrella of the National Will Platform. Citizens participating in the demonstration, held with slogans such as "We are waking up the world," "Yesterday Hagia Sophia, today Umayyad, tomorrow Al-Aqsa," and "A sun is rising," began their march to the Galata Bridge after performing morning prayers at the Hagia Sophia Mosque, as well as the Sultanahmet, Fatih, Süleymaniye, and Eminönü New Mosque.

The march was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop, Free Cause Party (HÜDA PAR) Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, AKP Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) member Mahir Ünal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ilm Yayma Foundation and member of the TÜGVA High Advisory Board Bilal Erdoğan, TÜGVA Chairman İbrahim Beşinci, Chairwoman of the Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM) Assoc. Prof. Saliha Okur Gümrükçüoğlu, Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın, HAK-İş Chairman Mahmut Arslan, as well as many members of parliament and district mayors.
WHEN WILL THE GALATA BRIDGE REOPEN?
In a statement regarding the march, the Istanbul Governor's Office said, "Starting from 23:00 on Tuesday, December 31, until the end of the program on Wednesday, January 1, the Galata Bridge and all access points leading to it will be closed to traffic from appropriate locations."
