Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu answered questions during a live broadcast on NTV.

Uraloğlu stated the following in summary:

ÇUKUROVA AIRPORT IS OPENING

"Çukurova Airport will serve the entire region. We brought this airport to life to meet changing and growing travel demands. Its annual passenger capacity will be 9 million.

We started the infrastructure work in 2013. Then, we tendered the superstructure work using the build-operate-transfer model. However, the company that took the contract could not carry out the work. We had to liquidate that contract. Unfortunately, we were delayed there a bit. We have made an investment of 244.5 million euros there.

During the 25-year operation period, we will have brought approximately 290 million liras of rental income to the Treasury."

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ŞAKİRPAŞA AIRPORT?

It will continue to be used for aviation purposes. It will host activities related to pilot training. TEKNOFEST will be held there in October.
