Will public transport be free in Istanbul during the holiday?

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) has announced that public transport will be free for personalized Istanbulkart holders throughout the Ramadan Feast in Istanbul.

According to the statement made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), preparations have been completed to ensure a comfortable and safe 9-day Ramadan Feast holiday, which will begin on the evening of Friday, April 5.

During the Ramadan Feast holiday on April 10-11-12, public transport vehicles affiliated with the İBB will be free for personalized Istanbulkart holders. IETT will include additional vehicles in service against possible congestion that may occur during the Ramadan Feast.

In Metro Istanbul, services will operate according to the Saturday schedule throughout the holiday. Services will take place between 06:00 and 00:00 on the 1st and 2nd days of the holiday.

On Friday, April 12, the Night Metro service will operate on the M1A Yenikapı-Atatürk Airport, M1B Yenikapı-Kirazlı/Bağcılar, M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman, M4 Kadıköy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport, M5 Üsküdar-Samandıra, M6 Levent-Boğaziçi University/Hisarüstü, and M7 Yıldız-Mahmutbey metro lines.

Throughout the holiday, more than 2,200 daily operations, security, and cleaning staff will be on duty on the lines, and 176 technical personnel will be on duty daily to intervene in possible malfunctions.
