Özgür Özel wins CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, elected Chairman

The race for the Chairmanship, which went to a second round at the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th Ordinary Congress, has concluded. The final results were announced by the Congress Chair, Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced that Özgür Özel won the race for the Chairmanship, which had gone to a second round.

While inviting Özgür Özel to the stage, İmamoğlu addressed him as "Mr. Chairman," thereby announcing that he had won the election.

Announcing the official results, İmamoğlu stated, "Özgür Özel received 812 votes, and Kılıçdaroğlu received 536 votes."

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL DELIVERS HIS VICTORY SPEECH

Özgür Özel, who was elected CHP Chairman with 812 votes, delivered his victory speech and said the following:

I am experiencing the greatest pride and honor of my life. I thank you on behalf of all members of the Republican People's Party for fulfilling this honorable duty bestowed upon you with unanimity and the heartfelt support of us all, at the first ballot box established in the 100th year of the CHP and indeed of Turkey, at the congress of our party that will shape the second century.
