In Istanbul's Bakırköy district, legal action has been initiated against a woman identified as Y.A., who allegedly obstructed the passage of pedestrians while feeding cats. It was reported that Y.A. was taken into custody following the circulation of footage on social media.
The incident reportedly took place in Ataköy. In the argument captured in the footage, a citizen attempting to pass through the street is seen stating that the path is public property, while Y.A. reacts by claiming that the citizen would harm the animals.
The recordings also include moments where Y.A. attempts to prevent the person filming her with a mobile phone. The individual recording the video alleged that the woman had previously been involved in similar disputes in the area and had attacked some people.
Following the footage becoming a trending topic on social media, it was reported that action was taken against Y.A. under the instruction of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It was stated that Y.A., who was taken into custody, has been admitted to the Psychiatry Clinic of the Bakırköy Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman Training and Research Hospital for Psychiatry, Neurology and Neurosurgery.
It was also alleged that there are 150 incident records concerning Y.A. It was claimed that in these records, the woman appears as a suspect in some files and as a complainant in others.
