Woman shot by husband who escaped from prison loses battle for life
A woman who was shot by her husband, a convict who had escaped from an open prison where he was being held for various crimes, has died in the hospital where she was receiving treatment in Erzurum.

Elif S. (32), a mother of 4 who was critically wounded by gunfire on February 19 in the Yunus Emre neighborhood of Palandöken district by her husband Şafak S. (39), who had escaped from the Erzurum Open Penal Execution Institution, has lost her battle for life at the Atatürk University Research Hospital.
Elif S.'s funeral was laid to rest at the Asri Cemetery following the funeral prayer held at the Palandöken Mosque.
SENT TO PRISON
Şafak S., who fled after critically wounding his wife, was apprehended on the same day by teams from the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, Murder and Robbery Bureau, in a taxi on the Erzurum-Pasinler highway with the weapon used in the crime. He was sent to prison by the court on February 21.
