Seven workers lost their lives and others were injured as a result of a fire at the Ravive Kozmetik perfume filling factory in Dilovası, Kocaeli. In the case heard by the Gebze 7th High Criminal Court at the Kandıra Penal Execution Institution Campus, 16 defendants are being tried, 8 of whom are in custody and 2 of whom are fugitives.

The second hearing of the case took place on March 25, 2026 (Today).

'I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT'

Attorney Kerim Bütün stated that the current system is a "bosses' order," and that this can be expressed by the words of one of the factory owners who killed 7 workers, including 3 children, with probable intent: "There have been thousands of work accidents until now, I have never seen company owners being put on trial."

'DO NOT PUT ON A SHOW'

Regarding the course of the hearing, Bütün stated, "Today, factory owners İsmail Oransal and Altay Ali Oransal are trying to escape responsibility by blaming all the guilt on their father, Kurtuluş Oransal, who died in prison. Furthermore, another defendant, Ali Osman Akat, turned to the complainant families before the hearing and said things like, 'Do not put on a show.'"

'ALMOST NONE OF OUR QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED'

Stating that almost none of the questions they directed to the defendants as the lawyers for the workers' families were answered, Bütün said, "He said he called a police chief on the day of the accident and received advice; despite our insistence, he did not disclose the identity of this police chief. He also avoided answering our questions such as 'Are you relying on them?' in light of information regarding his photograph with Süleyman Soylu."

'WE WILL NOT BOW DOWN'

Attorney Kerim Bütün stated that the hearing will continue from where it left off tomorrow. Bütün said, "As the lawyers for the families of the murdered workers, we will fulfill our responsibility to our people tomorrow as well. We will follow this case to the end. We will never bow down to threats and pressure."
