Worrying warning for Marmara from Japanese earthquake expert! He listed the provinces one by one and announced the magnitude of the earthquake

Participating in a seminar held in a hotel meeting hall in central Adıyaman and providing information about earthquakes to the attendees, Japanese Earthquake Expert Yoshinori Moriwaki stated that a very serious earthquake awaits the Marmara Region and that the impending earthquake could be of a magnitude of 7.9 or higher.

"WE THINK AN EARTHQUAKE COULD OCCUR IN MARMARA AND IZMIR"

Making statements regarding the earthquake awaiting the Marmara Region, Earthquake Expert Yoshinori Moriwaki said, "The East Anatolian Fault Line, in particular, had not ruptured for a long time. After the Elazığ earthquake, earthquakes occurred in this region, including Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman. Earthquakes of 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude have now occurred in Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, and Hatay, and aftershocks will continue in these regions for about 2 years. But we do not expect the same earthquake in this region again. If you ask where it will happen in the future, it will be on the southern side, including Cyprus, in the sea after Hatay on the East Anatolian Fault Line. We think an earthquake could occur in Bingöl, Karlıova, Bitlis, Muş, as well as in Marmara and İzmir."

"EARTHQUAKES MAY CONTINUE"

Stating that "Turkey and Japan are the same, an earthquake can happen anywhere," Moriwaki added, "We know that Turkey has been accumulating energy until now; this energy has not yet been released, and earthquakes may continue. One must always be prepared for this. If the fault line in the sea breaks after İzmir, the Marmara Region could experience an earthquake up to 7.7 or 7.9. The initial ruptures occur on soft ground, so building foundations must be strong. Buildings should be constructed after ground improvement. Even new buildings collapsed in Hatay. The reason for this is that the buildings were constructed without proper ground improvement. The building is strong, but the ground is not solid. Tunnel formwork or bored piles must be used. If the ground is poor, one must also look at whether the building was constructed after 2000 and whether there is a permit for the building's construction. Unfortunately, there are many unauthorized buildings in Turkey."

'2-3 TIMES MORE LOSS OF LIFE COULD OCCUR IN THE MARMARA REGION'

Emphasizing that they do not expect another major earthquake in the regions where the February 6 earthquake occurred, but that attention should be paid to the Marmara Region, Yoshinori Moriwaki said, "I do not think there will be an earthquake in the region where the February 6 earthquake occurred, other than aftershocks. 2-3 times more loss of life than the February 6 earthquake could occur in the Marmara Region. It could become very, very bad because the human population there is higher. Unfortunately, a very bad earthquake awaits Marmara."
