Yavuzyılmaz reacts to the Governor's Office: While Çağla fights for her life, what are you trying to cover up?

Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman and Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz has strongly criticized the statements made by the Governor's Office regarding the treatment process of Çağla Savaş, who is fighting for her life due to meningitis.

Pointing out that the Governor's Office shared no information regarding the treatment process that began on Sunday, April 5, and was carried out intermittently at the Zonguldak Maternity and Children's Hospital for 3 days, but only provided information about the process at the BEÜ Hospital on April 8, the date the diagnosis was made, Yavuzyılmaz addressed the Governor's Office, asking, "What are you trying to cover up?"

Stating that the Zonguldak public was kept uninformed for days and that the statement made by the Governor's Office following calls for transparency was designed to distort the process rather than inform the public, Yavuzyılmaz shared the following in his statement:

“Our child Çağla first went to the emergency department of the Zonguldak Maternity and Children's Diseases Hospital on Sunday, April 5, with complaints of vomiting and severe headaches. She was discharged after the initial interventions there. On April 6, as her complaints continued, she went to the hospital's emergency department again and was discharged once more after her treatment. On the morning of April 7, she saw a Pediatric Specialist, and in the evening, she applied to the hospital's emergency department again due to the worsening of her symptoms. During this process, no diagnosis regarding meningitis was made for Çağla, nor were procedures such as hospitalization or referral carried out. The family took Çağla to BEÜ on April 8, where a preliminary diagnosis of meningitis was made.

Following the news of the incident and our call for public transparency due to the concerns of our citizens in Zonguldak, the Zonguldak Governor's Office finally issued a statement. However, this statement contained no information regarding the treatment process that began on Sunday, April 5, and was carried out intermittently at the Zonguldak Maternity and Children's Hospital for 3 days. The Governor's Office only provided information about the process at the BEÜ Hospital on April 8, the date the diagnosis was made. The 3-day struggle for life that Çağla and her family went through was ignored.

I ask the Governor of Zonguldak here: 'What are you trying to cover up?' While a 14-year-old girl is fighting for her life, is your duty to investigate what happened in every detail, or to try to cover it up?

It is our collective duty to question the reason for the 3-day loss of time, which is extremely critical for Çağla's fight for life. We will follow the process to the end. I wish our child Çağla a speedy recovery once again.”
