Yeniden Refah Party municipality ignores 'Austerity Circular': 44 million lira vehicle rental

It has been revealed that the Karaköprü Municipality in Şanlıurfa, which passed from the AKP to the YRP in the March 31 local elections, has rented vehicles for 44 million TL.

It was determined that the municipality under the administration of Nihat Çiftçi  on July 4  signed a vehicle rental tender worth 44 million TL. YRP Mayor Nihat Çiftçi, who took over the municipality from the AKP, had previously announced that the total debt of Karaköprü Municipality, including loans, had reached 431 million 531 thousand liras.

According to a report by Evren Demirdaş from Sözcü, the vehicle rental tender with a driver, conducted by the Karaköprü Municipality Support Services Directorate with an estimated cost of 47 million 983 thousand 128 TL, was awarded to Aydoğanlar Otomotiv Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi for 44 million 40 thousand 535 TL via the 21/B bargaining method.

CONTRACT SIGNED ON JULY 4

While it was learned that the contract between the municipality and the company was signed on July 4, the location for the work was determined to be within the borders of Karaköprü and, in mandatory cases, subject to the administration's  assignment, outside the district borders (only within the borders of Şanlıurfa Province).

One week after being elected mayor, Çiftçi disclosed the municipality's financial statement, stating, "Our municipality's total debt to third parties, including loans, is 431 million 531 thousand liras. When we look at the monthly income-expenditure statement, our Karaköprü Municipality is running a deficit of 15 million 311 thousand 861 liras following recent transactions. Our institution owns a total of 117 machines, including work, cleaning, and passenger vehicles, and in addition to this, there are 71 leased vehicles."
