Özdil answered questions from Editor-in-Chief İpek Özbey on the Kırmızı Beyaz program on Sözcü TV.
Özbey asked Özdil, "In response to the question of who you trust the most in Turkey, Sedat Peker was number 1 and Müge Anlı was number 2. It's truly incredible, what do you say to this?"
Upon the question, Özdil expressed the following views regarding Peker:
"Sedat Peker, whose existence I am honored by, is trying to help people within the scope of this social responsibility project. For instance, he buys wheelchairs for some, houses for martyrs' families, or helps people in dire straits, people who cannot afford surgery, and so on. Of course, we get into trouble. Somehow they find my phone number, they find my email address, and they try to reach Sedat Peker. It's an incredible thing, really.
It's not just me; for example, his lawyers have reached a point where they can't work because Sedat Peker is helping.
We have very poor, very desperate people. He provides regular meals for them. I had written about this.
He sent a herd, and taking them to the slaughterhouse and such became a problem. Therefore, when people see these things, they try to reach Sedat Peker.
So, while it is a situation that provides inspiration on one hand, it is a tragic situation for the country on the other. Regarding his benevolence, his devotion to his family, especially his daughters—he is a member of the 'girl-dad' organization like me—his devotion is something very respectable.
For example, I have never seen an honest person harmed by Sedat Peker. Have you seen one?
I haven't. If I see one, I will say so. But I haven't.
So, is there anything wrong in what he says? No. Is there a mistake in helping people? No. Therefore, why are you criticizing? Am I looking at my own share?
I am not saying this because we are talking about it, but for example, he buys houses for martyrs' families. Can there be a more respectable behavior than buying a house for martyrs' families?
Some are criticizing. Instead of criticizing, you buy one too. Set an example and you buy one too. You buy one, and we will report on you too.
I think Turkey will hear this for the first time. When Sedat Peker bought a house for a martyr's family for the first time in his life, he was still living in a rented house himself. He does this while he is living in a rented house himself. That was a long time ago. He was 23 years old when he bought a house for a martyr's family for the first time in his life."
