As part of the judicial investigation conducted into the incident, a total of 6 people, including 1 foreign national, were arrested out of the 8 referred to the court, while 2 others were released under judicial control.
STATEMENT FROM JUSTICE MINISTER TUNÇ
Sharing a post on his X account regarding the matter, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated: "Regarding the incident that caused 9 people to be trapped under soil in the landslide that occurred at the mining site in İliç, Erzincan, within the scope of the investigation conducted by the İliç Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under the coordination of the Erzincan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; an #arrest decision was issued for suspects, including the Canadian manager of the relevant company who is considered to be responsible, and a #judicialcontrol decision was issued for other suspects.
The examinations by an expert committee consisting of 8 people specialized in geology, occupational health, mining, construction, agriculture, environment, mapping, and chemistry are ongoing, and the investigation is being carried out in all its aspects.
Search and rescue efforts for our missing workers are continuing by our relevant institutions. Our wish is to reach our workers as soon as possible."
