Yılmaz Tunç responds to claims that the terrorist leader will be released! Points to Erdoğan's letter

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç met with national and local media members working in Bartın and Karabük in Ulukaya village, located in the Ulus district of Bartın, where he was born and raised. Making assessments regarding the agenda, Minister Tunç touched upon many issues, primarily the constitutional amendment process, the new resolution process called 'Terror-Free Turkey,' judicial reforms, and family law.

Speaking on the constitutional amendment, Tunç stated the following:

“No matter how much we strip the coup constitution of its tutelary spirit, it has now become like a patchwork quilt. Many articles in our constitution have been changed, which has caused inconsistencies between articles and disputes between institutions. The debates that took place between the Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation in the past are examples of this.

Our constitution has been shaped by reforms, from changes in the government system to many structural transformations. However, we need to get rid of the tutelary spirit completely. We have entered the Century of Turkey. We must continue our path with a constitution prepared not by coup plotters, but by the elected representatives of the nation. This is a common promise in our election manifestos.

There have been various efforts for consensus in Parliament; an agreement was reached on 60 articles, but we could not reach a result. Hopefully, a consensus will be reached in Parliament soon, and we will pay this debt to our nation. Leaving behind the constitution written by coup plotters and having a new constitution written by the representatives of the nation is the greatest need.”

NEW RESOLUTION PROCESS

Drawing attention to the new resolution process called 'Terror-Free Turkey,' Tunç said, "Turkey is experiencing this process, and our greatest wish is for it to be permanent. We did not reach this point easily. We have eliminated all elements that paved the way for terrorism. At the foundation of this success lies our President's strong will and the opposition's support for this will. All ministries of the state, as well as intelligence, defense, interior, foreign affairs, and justice units, have worked in coordination.

We have entered a very sensitive period to ensure that weapons do not reappear from now on. Important duties fall to every segment of society. There may be those who try to sabotage the process; we must be vigilant against this. As a nation, we will continue to walk toward our goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey'."

PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION DECISIONS ARE THE KEY POINT OF THE PROCESS

Arguing that the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democratization Commission established in Parliament is important, Tunç stated, "The establishment of the commission, the fact that deputies follow the process, express their opinions, and the decisions taken are of vital importance. These efforts, carried out under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Parliament, will also guide the government's work. Hopefully, we will take a step toward a 'Terror-Free Turkey' and leave a peaceful future for our children. We are entering a period where we will rapidly compensate for the material and moral losses caused by terrorism."

RESPONSE TO CLAIMS OF ÖCALAN'S RELEASE

Addressing the claims that terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan will be released, Tunç said, "In the letter our President wrote to the families of martyrs, it is clearly seen that we will not take any step that would upset them. The families of martyrs support this process and say 'let no more mothers cry.' There is no bargaining in the fight against terrorism. The steps to be taken after the laying down of arms are being planned in a way that will not disturb our nation."

JUSTICE COURSE MAY BE ADDED TO THE EDUCATION CURRICULUM

Regarding the question about including justice in the education curriculum, Tunç stated, "Justice exists as an elective course in the curriculum, but it is not in high schools. It should also be in high schools. Justice is the foundation of the state. The Ministry of National Education will decide on this, and we support it."
