YKS brake on World Cup excitement: Giant screen ban before Turkey-Paraguay match

In line with the instruction sent by the Ministry of Interior to the governorships, public match-viewing events planned to be held in city squares this weekend have begun to be canceled one after another.

"DO NOT INSTALL GIANT SCREENS" INSTRUCTION TO 81 PROVINCES

In the instruction sent to the governorships under the signature of Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, it was requested that the installation of giant screens in streets and squares be prohibited before the match where Turkey will face Paraguay.

It was learned that municipalities preparing for the match, which will start at 06.00 in the morning, have canceled their public viewing events.

REASON ANNOUNCED AS YKS

It was stated that the main reason for the decision is to ensure that students taking the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) this weekend can prepare for the exam in a quiet and peaceful environment.

Furthermore, it was stated that this measure was taken to prevent any disruptions in transportation to exam centers and to avoid congestion that may occur around exam locations.

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi made statements regarding the security and public order measures taken within the scope of the YKS to be held on June 20-21, 2026.

Stating that all necessary preparations have been made so that candidates taking the exam can receive the rewards for their efforts under appropriate conditions, Çiftçi announced that instructions had been given to governorships not to install giant screens.

OVER 44 THOUSAND PERSONNEL WILL BE ON DUTY FOR THE EXAM

According to the information shared by Minister Çiftçi, a total of 44 thousand 886 personnel will be on duty in 11 thousand 883 schools across the country during the exam.

Within the scope of security measures, 6 thousand 907 security teams will be in the field.

It was reported that traffic arrangements will be made in and around exam buildings, measures against noise will be increased, and security checks will begin one day before the exam.

It was stated that security measures will be applied uninterruptedly during the transport of exam documents within the scope of YKS.

The Ministry of Interior announced that it will act in coordination with all relevant institutions to ensure that the exam organization is completed without any disruptions.

POPULATION DIRECTORATES WILL BE OPEN ON THE WEEKEND

It was announced that 355 population directorates in the provinces and districts where exam centers are located will serve on the weekend so that candidates who have lost their identity cards or need to renew them do not suffer any grievances.

Accordingly, population directorates will be open;

On Saturday between 07.00 and 17.00,

And on Sunday between 07.00 and 15.30.

At the end of his statement, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi emphasized that they are working to ensure that young people can receive the rewards for the efforts they have made for years without any problems.

While conveying his wishes for success to all candidates who will take the YKS, Çiftçi also wished success to the A National Football Team, which will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Following the ministry's instruction, many municipalities canceled the giant screen organizations planned for the Turkey-Paraguay match.
